Ella Jourdain

- Tropical Rivers Lab Technician, Florida International University

Research interests:
As Tropical Rivers Lab’s technician, Ella's work centered around our low-cost water monitoring project. Her previous research dealt with greenhouse gases and hippos in the Kenyan Mara River Region. Ella has since transitioned to the Tanzanian portion of the Mara, where she is working with the Serengeti-Lake Victoria Sustainable Water Initiative and on low-cost water monitoring projects.

Ana A. Lemos

CURRENT POSITION: Environmental Social Scientist, The Field Museum

PAST POSITIONS:

-Graduate Student, MS Environmental Studies
-Program Coordinator, Partners for Conservation in the Colombian Amazon
-Program Manager, FIU School of Environment, Arts and Society

Research interests:
Environmental social science, natural resource economics, Amazon biodiversity conservation

About me: 
I’m originally from Venezuela and I received my BA from Florida International University in Political Science in 2009. Since 2010, I’ve worked on many international development projects aimed at improving integrated management of natural resources, with a focus on freshwater. My MS thesis aimed to understand the value of ecotourism initiatives and opportunities for conservation as related to crocodiles in Tarcoles, Costa Rica. I’m also really interested in manatee conservation.

Elena E. Neibaur

CURRENT POSITION: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

PAST POSITIONS:

-Graduate Student, MS Environmental Studies

-Peace Corps Volunteer, Puebla, Mexico, 2012-2015

Research interests:
Community water resources management, rainwater harvesting, climate change. GIS/modelling

About me:
I completed the MS Peace Corps International program at FIU.Between 2012-15, I was on assignment in Mexico as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I worked with the Secretary of the Environment in Puebla and I assisted with activities as related to natural resources management and coordination of citizen participation in natural resources management. I received my BA in Environmental Science and Policy from California State University, Long Beach in 2009. I’ve also worked or studied in Italy and in Costa Rica.
