The Tropical River’s Lab welcomes back Nadia Seeteram! Seeteram a former New Yorker from the Bronx, journeyed to FIU and graduated with a Master’s in Environmental Studies focused on Environmental Economics. Her master’s thesis; “Ecosystem Services Evaluation for the Everglades” was part of the South Florida Water Sustainability Climate project, where Seeteram partnered with participants from various universities to estimate monetary values for Everglades Restoration.
Seeteram returned to New York and began a position with the NYS governor’s office of storm recovery which manages funds allocated for disaster relief and contributed her expertise in helping to advance the ongoing manage retreat research at the agency.
Later, an opportunity to return to FIU and earn her PhD presented itself along with an idea related to social media, “Science story telling.”
Seeteram seeks to take customary science communication a step further and aims to reach the public to provide information on the environment and science hot topics through a familiar social platform to engage in.
